BENEATH LOS ANGELES |
Son of AF Gilmore, founder of the Gilmore Oil Company, Earl expanded the family fortune to include Gilmore Bank, Gilmore Field, (home of the Gilmore owned Hollywood All Stars baseball team), a race car track, and the world-famous Farmers Market, where to this day, the adobe house where Earl was born and later died in the same bed, still stands as LA's oldest adobe structure, and serves as the offices of the AF Gilmore Company, which owns Farmers Market and the Grove. The bedroom where Earl was born and later died is still preserved today just as it was during his lifetime, but is unfortunately not open to tourists.
